Bram Stoker's Dracula
It was produced by Columbia Pictures. The cast includes Gary Oldman (playing the role of Count Dracula), Keanu Reeves, Anthony Hopkins and Winona Ryder. The soundtrack was composed by Wojciech Kilar, but his final song, Love Song for a Vampire (Love Song for a vampire) was written by Annie Lennox. The film was well received by the public, and received 4 nominations for the Academy Awards in 1993, which won three: Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Best Sound Editing.
This film is one of the many film adaptations of Stoker's novel, but is considered his official adaptation, since the film is more faithful to the novel, as well as introducing it to characters that never were adapted in previous versions as Quincey P. Morris and Arthur Holmwood.
The story tells the story of Count Dracula, a former voivod and leader of a great army Vlach, who lives in an old castle in the Carpathians in Transylvania. The count is not dead, that is, a vampire whose only food is human blood. This being has the power to manage wildlife whim of nature, can become mist, fly, and even take the form of a bat or a wolf. In this film we are shown a most romantic Dracula monstrous, and we see as tragically lost his beloved and then falls in love with Mina Harker, and we see both fall into a deep platonic love story.
The film garnered a large number of spectators, that would make their collection was of $ 215,862,692 worldwide. This would be the return to the success of director Francis Ford Coppola, and also their financial salvation, as it was in economic trouble due to high cost films but little benefit as the Godfather III, and Apocalypse Now.
The story begins when the clerk Jonathan Harker is sent to the Carpathians, Transylvania, with a mission to visit the castle of a certain Count Dracula. The reason for this mandate was that the Count Harker had acquired a house located in central London, and therefore should take the roles Harker for the count should be signed for the acquisition of such housing.
When Harker arrives at the castle and meets the count, staying there for a while, until all the paperwork for the purchase estuvisen in order. During his stay in the castle, Harker begins to glimpse a series of strange events and see how the fitness of friendly old man who seems to have the count at the beginning of his visit, he begins to adapt a way to be more eccentric and bizarre.
